Habitat talisman.
Not a clock, not a pocket watch. 🕰️
The concept.
The Habitat Talisman was born from a desire to create an object that feels both timeless and deeply personal, designed specifically for renters aged 35-55. Inspired by the nostalgic Habitat era of 1992-2011, the Talisman evokes the emotional connection many associate with those formative years.
This piece serves as more than just a functional object - it’s a symbol of home and continuity, offering a sense of belonging to its user and their family, no matter where they live.

Focus on form.
Crafting the Talisman’s form involved extensive experimentation to achieve its unique sculptural presence. Foam models helped refine proportions and ergonomics, while oobleck (a non-Newtonian mixture of cornstarch and water) provided an organic exploration of fluid forms and solidity. This meticulous process ensured the final design was tactile, weighty, and imbued with a sense of grounding.
Andrew Morgan described it as "a tangible respite from that intangible social norm of owning nothing," reinforcing the Talisman’s emotional and physical significance.
Result.
The Habitat Talisman is a modern heirloom - a piece that tells a story while fitting seamlessly into daily life. Its grounding presence recalls the pride former generations had in displaying decorative pieces, offering permanence in an increasingly transient world.
This unique design has attracted interest from Sheffield Watches, who are exploring how the Talisman could be adapted into their product range. Whether displayed prominently in a home or cherished as a design statement, the Talisman blends experimentation, nostalgia, and craft into a timeless object.
